I’m Alyssa Marie Williams, a theater artist from Long Island. I’ve worked as a writer, producer, director, and stage manager. Illness changed how I could participate, and Limitless Theater Company is about finding ways to keep making theater that remain accessible to me.
Finding my way back
After a difficult stretch trying to find my way back to theater, I went to my first indoor arena concert after brain surgery. Nick Jonas’s speech before “A Little Bit Longer” hit differently.
It helped spark a chain of ideas that made me want to make theater again. I followed them. Eventually, they led here.
Earlier work
I earned my B.A. in Theatre Producing and Management from Marymount Manhattan College in 2022. My work includes producing, directing, and stage management at Long Island’s Second Stage Studios, formerly Second Stage Productions.
My earlier musical, Two Thousand Miles, developed through a concert at Feinstein’s/54 Below, staged readings at The Green Room 42 and Studio Theatre, and a developmental production at BACCA. I also produced and directed the 2019 concert Artists for Awareness: Salutes the Jonas Brothers at Don’t Tell Mama.
Why Limitless, and why now
Finding ways to make theater with the life I have now.
Limitless Theater Company is my creative home for developing musical theater in ways that work with the life I have now. I’m writing, learning, and sharing the work as it takes shape.
Who I am. I’m Alyssa Marie Williams, a theater artist. I’ve produced, directed, and stage managed, but over time I settled into writing.
Why now. Illness changed what I could do and how I could do it. I’m finding ways to make theater that work with my life now, instead of waiting for the old version of it to come back.
What Limitless means. Making theater accessible includes making it possible for the people creating it to keep participating. There has to be room to rest, change the plan, and still make something.
